FAQ: Traditional Versus Express Solution

What is the difference?

The main difference is the rinse off time!

Process and application are the exact same. The express tan will fade just like how your traditional tan fades, and will look just as good, if not better! The only difference is the initial wash off time + it will last longer!

Traditional requires an 8-12 hour set time before you can rinse off the bronzer. Night appointments are popular for this reason- spray, lounge, sleep and wake up with your tan!

Express you can rinse off in 1-4 hours depending on the level of tan you are looking for. Ideal for clients who are on the go with a busy schedule, don't have time to wait hours before showering, require a skincare regimen, breastfeeding, prefer not to have the bronzer on 8-12 hours or while they sleep, at risk of sweating based on humidity and other factors.

What is Express Solution?

Express produces the same flawless and natural results as a traditional tan, but allows you to wash off in 1-4 hours!

After you’ve rinsed the bronzer off you can exercise, go dancing with your friends, give your child a bath, let your dog shower you with kisses, and even get caught in the rain without having to worry about ruining the development of your tan!

How long you leave an express tan on your skin for is largely determined by the type of tan you want to achieve (subtle versus significant) and your skin type. Our guidelines are 60-90 minutes for light tan, 2-3 hours for medium tan, or 3-4 hours for dark tan. Your spray tan artist will provide the suggested time during your appointment.

My express tan disappeared with my first rinse off, is my tan gone?

No, your tan is not gone. DHA (the active tanning ingredient in our spray tan solutions) requires between 12 to 18 hours to fully develop into your final tan; Express tans simply allows you to wash off the solution faster. So while you washed off the visible bronzer, your tan will continue to develop as the day goes by, but will be unharmed by rain, swimming, and exercise! Don't be worried when you rinse off in the shower and see the bronzer color go down the drain–your tan will gradually develop over the course of the next several hours!

YES, YES, YES, AND YES A spray tan does not protect the skin from UV rays from the sun.

Do I need to wear sunscreen after receiving a spray tan?

Highly waterproof sunscreen will help your tan last longer while also protecting your skin!

Always check the bottle for the words "oil-free" and "alcohol-free" and always choose an SPF high enough for your skin type. Stay away from the aerosol or spray-on sunblock because they don’t go on evenly, and contain alcohol that can dry your tan out making it fade unevenly.

Always check the expiration date on any SPF products you have at home!
